More Cell-phone Sickness?
I’m not really a raving Luddite (I just play one on the internet) but I couldn’t help noticing stories on a Dutch government study of 3G signals (Wired’s here, The Register’s here). From Wired:
Radio signals for the next generation of mobile phone services can cause headaches and nausea, according to a survey conducted by three Dutch ministries on the impact of tomorrow’s data networks on health.
That “cognitive functions such as memory and response times were boosted by both 3G signals and the current ones, the study found” is not much consolation. Cigarettes have the same effect.
Now I don’t know if this study is conclusive or not, nor how long it will be until someone comes out with a new study proving that 3G signals make you stronger, wiser and more attractive to the sex of your choice, but do you ever get the feeling that, distracted by lots of cool blinky lights, we’re marching towards the edge of a cliff?

Well just because people are getting headaches from using their phones I don’t think it’s fair to assume that the technology has carcinogenic effects. (Is that what they’re trying to say?)
Even mild stimulants such as caffeine & nicotine, like you said, can cause headaches and similar symptoms.
Oh well.

James —-
> … carcinogenic effects. (Is that what they’re trying to say?)
No. They just seem to have found certain effects (headaches, nausea, tingling) associated with 3G signals.
Now these effects may well be symptomatic of other effects: cancer, cell damage, the onset of telepathic abilities. We don’t know yet. All the study seems to be saying is that, in a double-blind test, 3G signals cause certain effects.
As for me, all I wanted to say was that I feel a certain trepidation that we’re making some deep infrastructural choices before the ramifications have been adequately examined. We’re still discovering the effects of the coal and petrochemical decisions we’ve made in the 150-odd years since the industrial revolution. These things, it would seem, can take time.
I’m not saying reject or embrace technology. I’m saying we need more thought and caution.

I thought the study was referring more to base stations, and the signals coming from them? The output from handheld phones is really quite small, and I’d like to think that we can handle that shit! Bring it on! Right? We are, after all, on the top of the food chain… (sarcasm).
But alas, we are marching towards the destiny of our own making… blindfolded?

I just want to point out that I certainly don’t mean to trivilize the possible sickness foisted upon those that might be affected by cell phones, base stations or whatever might ail them. My 3G handset is probably working out a plot to kill me even as I type this.

I’ve owned a Nokia 6160, a Siemens S46 and now a Siemens C56. I bought the C56 specifically because it has a built-in speakerphone. I needed that feature because all of the phones were giving me the worst headaches. No one else I know gets headaches using a cell phone, but 2 minutes of continuous talking has become intolerable for me. I definitely think there’s something to this study.

I read the same articles today and felt a bit vindicated. While first reviewing a handheld Palm-phone (the new Samsung), I found that not only while using the cell phone but also while using the wireless Palm function, after about thirty seconds, I begin to feel nauseated. It grows to a full-blown headache with nausea, dizziness included, after about a minute of use.
There has to be something to it.

Hello and thanks for your Blog.
I also get symptoms from using a Sprint PCS Phone. Samsung.
I get extreme headaches, nausea, eye, jaw and neck pain - extreme irritability, confusion, etc. Also extreme fatigue. It feels like a bomb going off in my head when I am now even within the same room as other phones in use.
I have had a cell phone since approx. 1987 or so…First Analog - many makes and models (higher wattage) and then digital phones. I have also been a computer junky since the TRS-80 came out way back when.
I seriously think that the effects of all this electromagnetic energy are cumulative, and once you get sensitized, you are really screwed.
If you get any symptoms at all, do try and not use the thing. You’ll be doing yourself a favor.
I would also Google “Electrical Sensitivity” if you think you are having symptoms.
Also try “Electrical Sensitivity Sweden” because they have a good association from whom you can learn a lot.
The speaker phone may be a good temporary solution, but once IT starts to bother you, PLEASE STOP using it.
Remember, if the signal from the phone can transmit ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE TOWER (which at times is MILES away)….and the signal can penetrate wood, steel, bricks, concrete, glass, etc…then surely even if you use the speaker, the signal is reaching YOU!!! You are only a foot or two away!
This is true with a headset as well.
It offers a false sense of safety, for even at the remaining levels, symptoms can still be produced.
ONE thing is for sure.
Microwave Radiation of the type produced by cell phones does not PROMOTE ideal health. Want proof?
Keep it on 24 hours a day right near your head…See how long it takes for you to have proven what I have said above.
(Don’t really do it, of course…)
Just making a point.

I also have had to stop using cell phones because of headaches. I never used them very often- a few minutes a day for less than a year. I’ve tried various models, but have not found one yet that doesn’t both me. I hope the headaches are not an indication that I need to go get an MRI. It is good to know that they have this effect on other people as well!

Just a comment ,2 years ago while driving to work had a seizure.Mri showed Brain tumor. After having surgery to biopsy tumor, path report came back grade 4 glimo (cancer) I have never been sick 1 day of my life. My surgeon (Dr. Bryne) Rush Med Chicago said it was his 11th case that week he had done. Even though they say there is no direct link, cell phones are being linked to more cancers. There is no cure or this cancer, and new drugs are being tested but they are extremely expensive. So use that cell phone sparingly and keep your childrens useage down. The phone makers will disagree with me,but so did Dupont years ago.(TEFLON) Look it what the goverment is now finding out thanks for reading this if nothing else think about it. I would hate to have this happen to you or your family

I used a motorola v60i for 2 years with no complaints. I got a Motorola e315 3G V-Cast phone & I’ve felt ill for three days since I got it. Nauseated, dizzy & extreme eye ache. My right ear (phone ear), & to a lesser degree the whole right side of my face gets very warm & red. I turned off the phone earlier today & feel fine. This thing is going back! I’m glad to see others have these symptomes. I thought I was losing it. There is definitly something to this!

I was searching the internet for the symptoms I have, and found this one that kind of matched. I had an LG v110 and now a LG v6000. I am not on it that much though, maybe 5 minutes a day?? I also get the warm and red right side of my face and ear. It is usaully in the afternoon. I also constantly have a dull ache where my neck and back meet on my right side and I can crack my neck often.

wow!!in the last month, especially since the holidays, i have been using my sony erricson fone, i get a severe ear ache on my phone right side. Even afer I hang up for hours the ache (from ear to my neck) remains. ( I was holding the phone direct to my ear, but now if hurts using the headset and when i talk on my home cordless phone). I see that I am not alone. Has anyone been to a doctor. Since I have not used the phone and I still have the ache , i am concerned and I am waiting for a callback from the HIP center. Will keep everyone updated.

The most thing I hate about cell phones is that my ear gets heat up when I recieve a call.

Ya know i have to admit I would not think i would have been posting on a forum like this actually I came across it by accedent. in any case i have had my cell phone for aboiut 1 1/2 years (I was going to georgetown at the time). I rememebr noticing immidiately after I got it and tried it out the very first time I had a splitting headache and nausea.
Also I had reduced congnitive capabilites ( sad thing too as my IQ qualifies me for 999 society). I have noticed that my memory has markedly declined, speech problems some times, hell even reading comprehension. I have had every test under the sun (MRI with and wihtout contrast, CT scans, Blood tests) no leasions, they can not find a thing wrong with me. I got to thinking about when the symptoms started and what was a life change that I had made at roughly the same time.
I m telling you if the cell phone companies are responsible for this mess they should be shot for treason. This comming from a neo con that subscribes to corporate nationalism. Though corporate nationalism is very freindly to corporations , it posseses one caveat - profitiability is not to come at the cost of CNP ( comprehensive national power). Product iresponsibility undermining our indegenous populace mental capabilites especially in a post industrial knoldge based global economy not to mention the increased public consumtion casue via health care is tantamount to treason.

I have a Motorola V551. I find that after it’s been strapped to my belt for about 10-15 minutes, my hip starts to ache. I’m very concerned about this. After I remove it from my hip, everything seems to be ok after about 20 minutes. Cell phones should not make your body ache. :(

I used my Nextel i-2000 for 4 months averaging about 1600 minutes per month. About 25% right ear usage, about 25% speaker phone usage, and about 50% left ear usage. After 4 months I had ear aches in my left ear. For what it’s worth, I found that drinking ‘green tea’ daily has reduced the frequency and intensity of the pain.

I happened on this site after googling headaches and cell phones and I’m very interested to see the postings. I’ve been studying the cell phone health research for five years, watching how the bio-effects keep coming up (in over half of all the research, and in 70% of the non-industry influenced research), and how the industry continues to dismiss them and ridicule the researchers. I’m sure it will be in the news like tobacco, asbestos, and all the drug scandals one day—-but like those issues, it takes time, and many people may be hurt in the meanwhile.
If you have seen a clear link between your cell phone use (or cordless phones or other wireless devices) and headaches, dizziness, pain, tingling, ear ringing, or any of a host of symptoms, believe it. There is research to back it up. There is a Swedish site called “feb” that specializes in such information. In Sweden such “electrosensitivity” is an official disability. Studies from different parts of the world suggest at least 2% of the population is noticeably sensitive to electromagnetic fields and wireless radiation. It appears that the cells of the body, which communicate through chemicals and electrical impulses anyway, actually reads these weak incoming signals, and responds to them. Some effects noted: DNA breakage and non-repair, increase then decrease in stress response proteins, lowered melotonin, opening of the blood-brain barrier, changes in brainwaves and blood pressure, and actually, several other bioeffects as well.
Note the industry carefully says there is no “established” effect on health, and no “conclusive” evidence. That does not mean there are no reported effects (there are many) and it does not mean there is no evidence. In fact, the evidence is quite compelling. You would be sad to know, however, that independent research in this area is virtually non-existant now in this country—-it is all in the hands of the industry, which could certainly be a way to keep the evidence inconclusive. The independent labs that found effects here cannot get funding anymore.
The radiation scientists at the EPA are very concerned about this—-the acute exposures from cell phones (directly to the brain), and the long-term, chronic, low-level exposures from base stations (cell towers, wi-fi, building mounted antennas). Don’t look for the official position of EPA to reflect that, however.
I have spoken to several people who have gotten headaches and other symptoms from cell phones. The former Director General of the World Health Organization, Gro Brundtland, also gets headaches from them. If you get them, it is an obvious sign that you react to this radiation. My advice is to avoid it as much as possible. It is likely that many if not most people are affected by it, but do not realize it.
The other thing that is happening “below the radar” is that federal and state laws have been and are continuing to be enacted that protect the industry’s right to expand the wireless infrastructure (and therefore, chronic radiation exposure) without the messy involvement or knowledge of the public. The safe exposure guidelines for the US, by the way, are put together primarily by industry and military representatives and collaborators, although they give the “appearance” of being a balanced, independent group. Despite the industry mantra to the public of “more research is needed”, there is nothing they would like more than for this research to stop and have said so privately.
There is so much more I could say, but that is enough for now. Some sites: wave-guide.org, emrnetwork.org, energyfields.org, emfbioeffects.org, emfacts.com, emrpolicy.org, microwavenews.com.

I have had ear pain for app 3 months - sometimes worse than others. Naturally, doctor didn’t really know what it was - thought it might be a cist deep inside my ear. He gave me an antibiotic that actually made it feel WORSE than before. Since then, I have had to diagnose myself (which is usual when going to the doctor these days) and have found that when I use my earbud on my cell phone, my pain is more severe. I don’t think this is a coincidence, especially since a friend of mine warned me that even using an ear bud for my cell phone is dangerous (and he is a ph.d.) Found this website while looking for info - it’s amazing how many people are experiencing difficulties with their cell phones, yet no one knows what to do about it except to quit using them!

Yeah, I’m in the process of trying to replace my PN-215(?) which I got from Verizon, because every time I’m on the phone I get headaches and I feel lightheaded. This has never happened with any of my other cell phones, mostly Nokias. This is ridiculous.

After the ‘Isha Salaah (the compulsory Islamic nightfall prayer) on most Saturday evenings, a Sufi in (group) adhkaar at the Habibia Sufi Mosque in Rylands Estate, Cape Town, South Africa, recites (in Arabic) over a glass of water and gives to cancer patients to drink. I have seen people being cured in this manner. The grey-bearded dhaakir does this free of charge.

I used a cell phone for approx. 11 months. For about four months I used the phone on a daily basis for 1-3 hours strait. I would feel effects such as numbness in my face, pain, and my vision would get a little blurred but it would always go away. I finally got rid of the phone but used someone else’s for a few minnutes and was immediately, strongly effected.
I haven’t used a cell phone in a couple of months but I am still feeling the effects and they seem to be worse recently.
I am of course worried about this and fear it could be cancerous but I don’t know how to find out exactly what the problem is. I know it is because of my phone usage that I have this pain/numbness on the right side of my head, as well as my right eye. I think that being around computers causes this feeling to flair up. I don’t know if I should see a doctor about this or even what kind of doctor I could go to. Most everyone I talk to about this blows it off, including an eye doctor I went to recently. One relief I have found is putting a cold wash cloth or ice pack on the side of my head. It seems to clear up my vision and relieve the numbness/pain but the soothing doesn’t last. I have also been experiencing poor sleep and feel the need to vomit some mornings (and actually have) but was not attributing that to the phone problem.
I feel better reading about other peoples experiences with cell phones and would like to talk to someone about it. Are there any chat rooms or other blogs focused this problem?

Hi,
I get an extreme headache / eye pain from a shorth call on either a mobile or cordless phone…Does this mean I am more at risk than those people who use them for hours with no effects. Please email me at: djgazsewell@hotmail.com.
Thanks.

I’ve been using cell phones since about 1991 and have noticed various similar effects to those described here by others - usually to a lesser degree.
However, three days ago, while in the process of upgrading my cell phone and because of a disagreement with a disreputable Cingular Wireless agent, I was forced to call Customer Service from my cell phone: the agent refused to let me use his landline. The call lasted about an hour - and not having an earpiece with me at the time, the phone was at the side of my head for the entire conversation.
Still three days later, the left side of my head from my cheek bone to just above my temple, has been numb with a dull ache, affecting my jaw and my sleep. I’ve also been experiencing other unsusual body aches and my breath has been been atrociously bad - perhaps the result of mucous in my sinus cavity?
Like another poster, I too have avoided wearing a phone on my belt as it produces an unpleasant tingling - same with my hands when I handle the phone for a long period of time.
I’ve read reports over the years and truly believe that some of us are hypersensitive to a multitude of unnatural products - i.e. Aspartame, living under or very near to high tension wires, etc. I’m also firmly convinced that the industries responsible for these products and the government bodies tasked with overseeing them are, at the least, in collusion to downplay the hazards if not outright complicit in their attempts to discredit independent research offering compelling discourse contrary to industry interests.
Perhaps the grand scheme is, years from now, a repeat of the “Tobacco Settlement” vis-a-vis the cellular industry once evidence of the “long-known” harmful effects of cell phone use can no longer be easily or quickly dismissed as the ravings of a few paranoiacs. After all, the tobacco companies to date still refute evidence suggesting that their products cause cancer.

“Out of the public sector”
My name Rev.Robert. I’m one of those people who are receiving bad headaches from cell phones. I don’t use one myself. Those headaches are coming from other cell phones around me. Apparently, I am highly sensitive to cellular frequencies. Just about anywhere I go, there is someone walking towards me or walking up behind me while talking on a cell phone. Grocery store, school, library, park, church, coffee shop, airport, even in my work place. These days I have isolated my self to the point of little or no contact with other who have phones. Every time I hear someone talking to them self, I run! Typically, when a cell phone is on and near by, I can feel a pressure coming from the phone. It’s like a wave of pressure going through my head. The first exposure is a pressure from the outside. The next moment is a burning sensation at the center of my head. Then, what appears to be a type of swelling begins. The person that walked by me with the cell phone is long gone. But now theres this inner pressure and what feels like swelling. It takes about two to three hours for the pain and swelling to go away. The disorientation that follows the pain stays about two days. These days, I can tell if a cell phone is on from 10 feet away. If the cell phone is kept from me at a far distance, then I only feel slight pressure. But if the cell phone is close by, then my day is over. Extreme fatigue and splitting headache are a clear result. Afterwards, rest is the only thing that helps. There going to be a real problem in our near future with this new system. But like the tobacco companies, it will take years of suffering to prove its a problem. It is my hope and wish that we find out soon.
Be well,
Rev. Robert

I am so happy to hear I am not alone. I have been using my cellphone quite a bit for the last year and half. I have now stopped entirely. At first I was experiencing headaches on the right side of my head, then neck pain. Now, I am having pain on the whole right side of my body. The side I talk on the phone with. I feel the pain mainly when I’m asleep at night. I have since stopped using the phone and I am still experiencing very bad body aches all on the right side of my body from my head to my feet. Not sure where to turn since most doctors don’t have a clue. If you have any information, please e-mail at mrs8886@bellsouth.net.

Cell phones to cause cancer and other health effects. Please see the movie “The Cell Phone War” we are working hard in getting the truth out to you. But how can we get the children and teens to listen to the facts that they are at the highest risk. Please send us your ideas. go to safewireless.org and watch what they don’t want you to hear. I don’t want you to have to go thru a brain surgery like did..children brains are worth saving..

Wow! I can’t believe there are so many other people experiencing the same thing. I don’t even use my cell phone that much, but in the last few months the pain in my left ear just won’t go away. I thought at first I was just sensitive to the loudness of a cell phone, but then the systems continued way after non use. My left side feels congested, my jaw and teeth ache and the sinus infection idea just didn’t pan out. My computer being on in the next room, even causes pain. How weird. I am glad to hear it isn’t just me.

hi…after years of tingling and head warming caused by my ‘phone I started to get nausea/bad headaches/localised inner ear pain - even using the speaker function still meant I would be ill the next day - similarly with handsfree kits. I now use a blu-tooth which proves effective, but if I forget or mislay it and answer the phone even for a few seconds I get headaches and ear pain/ringing in the ear for 5 days at least. Similarly if I attach the phone to my waist I get pain where the phone has been…………………………

I have experienced the following health problems from using mobile phones and also WiFi:
1) Dizziness, slightly blurred vision and usually a headache when using the mobile 2) A feeling of pressure building up in my sinuses and eyes when using WiFi 3) Vibration feelings particularly in my legs and twitches all over 4) Swollen and itchy eyes that feel like they’ve got sand in them and small flashes of light when moving my eyes from side to side in the dark
The correlation between experiencing these symptoms and using a mobile phone or WiFi device is striking. To me, there is no doubt that the wireless signals are causing these symptoms which, by the way, often take many hours to subside after ceasing use of the wireless device.
Given that I’m not the only person to be having these problems, I’m amazed that almost nothing is being done or even said by government regulators to address the problem. What is going on? Why won’t anyone come out publicly to say that there is a problem here that needs urgent attention?
By the way, if you’re in Australia and experiencing these kinds of problems you can file a complaint to the electromagnetic radiation health complaints register of ARPANSA (the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency). At least this is a first step. Have a look here: http://www.arpansa.gov.au/emr_reg.htm

Purely by accident that I have stumbled on this website. I am so glad that I did! I have been experiencing pain on the side that I use my cell phone and can actually feel a pressure when I begin to use it. I mentioned this to some people and say that it is ridiculous! There is no doubt that I will be referring them to this website. I have an upcoming appointment with my physician to make sure that it is not anything serious. Once a rule any medical conditions I will do some more of my own investigations on the use of cell phones. This too is perhaps MORE serious than a diagnosed disease because of the HIDDEN dangers. I am starting to think that just having land phones was a much better way to live. My child is 12 years old and I certainly don’t see a cell phone in his future. Thank you for sharing your stories, it has helped me tremondously. Be well and happy.

Finally some confirmation of what I have been feeling for a year! I complained to my phone company and the doctor and they both dismissed my concerns. The phone co. said they had never had any complaints and that maybe I had a sinus infection. I get headaches, numbness, eye aches, nausea, and irritability after using my cell phone. Luckily, it goes away after a couple of hours. I actually tried just using the speaker phone today but I still felt sick. All of these other comments from people with more severe effects are really worrying. I am definitely going to research this more, and check out the other websites mentioned. Thanks to everyone for posting their experiences and advice.

Glad to know I’m not alone. I’ve had a Sony Ericsson T616 for a few years, and consistently get a headache when I use it without my bluetooth headset. (I never do that for more than a few minutes, because I can feel the start of nausea and ‘confusion’/dizziness).
Also if I have it in my pocket on standby, after a while I notice slight pain in muscles near it.
I didn’t notice this as much with the non-GSM motorola flip-phone I had before that. From this site it sounds like GSM is the big difference; I’d thought maybe it was moving from a flipphone to a candy-bar style phone. (Many of the phones people mention here seem to be candy-bar style). I’m just guessing (but with a candy-bar style phone, the antenna could be many times closer to the body).
After reading the testimonials here I’m more convinced that this is real, but still not 100% sure the effect isn’t psychosomatic. Suggestion can be very powerful (I can attest to this), and my symptoms started only after I’d heard the first rumblings about cell-phone cancer. Please bear this in mind, and maybe people will be more open to investigating instead of dismissing our claims.
Also, here is a possible explanation: Maybe the cell phone signal induces signals in nerves. Then the effects would depend on the kind of signals (frequencies etc.), not just the overall SAR rating. Also, it would have nothing to do with cancer.
Presumably this possibility was considered long ago, and rejected on the basis that the induced signal is way too small. I’m not medically qualified, but I do have experience with signal theory, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the analysis leading to that rejection was flawed, every time it was performed. (Fourier analysis is like “rose-colored glasses” I have found, and it still seems to be the norm.)
As others have said, its quite vindicating to see others are feeling these effects from cell phone useage. My symptoms started with the release of the “3G” phones. I have been scoffed at by most people I’ve mentioned it to. I got a Motorola e815 & had it for about two weeks & had to sell it because it was causing eye aches, light-headedness, cognitive issues, warmth & redness on the side of my face and after a long call I would be noticably fatigued & sometimes nausious. I went back to my V60i and all seems ok. Seems a shame we should have to be showered with radiation that is capable of causing this so that people can watch videos on their phones.

Quote, “Also, here is a possible explanation: Maybe the cell phone signal induces signals in nerves. Then the effects would depend on the kind of signals (frequencies etc.), not just the overall SAR rating. Also, it would have nothing to do with cancer. “
I suspect that at least part of the problems being noticed is to do with the microwave signals from these devices interfering with body’s nervous system as you have suggested. From what I have read about this phenomenon, I think that the frequency of the signal might be important to the intensity of the symptoms because it seems like people are noticing the symptoms more from the higher frequency devices (2.4Ghz) than the 900Mhz phones. But more research is needed as to what effect, if any, the type of signal (eg. a GSM signal verses an analogue carrier wave at those frequencies) is having.
I don’t think you can rule out longer term consequences of this kind of interference to the body (including cancer), even though it might seem like nothing more than stubbing your toe. The reason being that there could well be indirect effects occurring as a result of nerves not functioning the way they should having flow on effects to other parts of the body. Of course, a lot more research is needed and that is why this is such an urgent issue. We just do not know enough of what is going on and people everywhere are embracing this technology like it is essential to living today. We should be pressing the relevant government authorities to take action by commissioning some serious research. It’s in no one’s interest to see something like asbestos or cigarettes re-emerging.

I got extremly sharp headpain, radiating into my right eye and down my neck while talking on my old nokia phone (on right -phone side) It repeated later in day on another call. I used an earbud for next few weeks and pains didn’t recur. but last night I spent 40 minutes on phone, no earbud, and pains returned. it is clearly the result of cellphone use. I went to cellphone store to see about getting a new phone but after reading all these reports I am seriously considering never using one again. Oh! while using cellbud and keeping phone in my pocket near my waist, I have been having hip pain I notice at night!!! I really do think I will succeed in NOT using a cellphone, but it has become so much a part of my life, that it WILL be a bit challenging!

I have problems using most cell phones like many on this forum. I actually just upgraded to a new phone and I now need to return it because it affects me quite severely (Eye Strain, Headache, Disorientation, Tingly Sensation on Face). My new phone is a flip phone but that didn’t seem to make a differnce.
In the past I have had the best luck with Motorola Phones (Star Tacs, MPX 220). I’ve also had luck with a small Samsung Flip Phone. For some reason these phones don’t seem to affect me and I’m not sure why. I may return my existing phone now and try the Razr.

Oh my god It feels so good to know that I’m not the only one in this world to be suffering from the same symptoms.
I’m 22 and have had a cell phone for 5 years. For the past 6 months I have noticed symptoms of earaches, pressure in my head, nausea, headaches, dizziness, light headedness, disorientation, stuttering, blurred vision, lack of concentration, restless sleep, irritability, fatigue and other symptoms.
Recently I went to see a GP who prescribed doses of antibiotics to treat me with as well as a prescribed CT scan- which I haven’t gone for yet- and this did not help. If anything it is coming back more intensely.
I have stopped using my cell phone because my symptoms increase more when I use it and the prssure in my head is painful!
I’m scared… I’m too young to be getting these symptoms! We all need to do something to make others aware and stop this fast paced rising of the cell phone industry !!

Re cell phone use and bad health effects.
My bio-kiniseologist has suggested I not use my cell phone excep in emergencies. I do home-care work and use it to coordinate my activities. I do not have a headache nor any other bad symptoms of cell phone use. He sees the bad effects from my recurring tests…he did not know I was using a cell phone until he told me to avoide electromagnetic devices and I mentioned I had started using a cell phone. The magnetics I can put on my electricfuse box is easy……is there a defice to place on the cell phone to counter these bad effects?

Like everyone else here, I, too, am happy to have found this site. I have been told that there is no evidence to substantiate cell phones cause any physical problems.
I bought a Nokia 6010 about ten years ago. As soon as I put the phone to my head, I experienced sinus pressure and a weird feeling in my head. I used the wired ear bud that came with the phone and the problem went away. And unlike the person?s post about propaganda leading people to think cell phones cause cancer, I had these physical symptoms BEFORE I heard about the cancer scare with cell phones, or any other negative information regarding them.
Most every time I used the Nokia phone, I used the ear bud. On the few occasions I did use the phone, it would only be for a short time because I could feel the affects immediately. However, after several years the symptoms got better if I used the phone for a very short time, but I still used the ear bud for other lengthy calls.
Last night I took my 15-yr. daughter to get her own cell phone. We were sharing my phone. Cingular had an offer of buy one get one free. I got a new LG flip phone. As soon as I put the phone to my head, I felt the feeling again in my head ? only much more extreme. It uses the new 3G technology. I was speaking to my boyfriend on this phone and my head was hurting. I felt dizzy; my sinus hurt, and I was very irritable. I told him this and he said ?it was all in my head? and that cell phones cannot make me feel that way. But I was the one feeling the very real physical symptoms, not him. It was real. I am going to return the phone and use my old Nokia.
I would like to see more information as to the safety of cell phones. Now that I got my daughter her own phone I am concerned about her health. She was so thrilled to finally get her own phone because all her friends have them. I think there isn?t enough evidence on the safety of cell phones, especially this new 3G technology. I am afraid to talk to people about this because those I do share this information with are quick to dismiss any problems with using cell phones. Media has leaded the public to believe cell phones are safe.
This situation is not unlike other man-made creations (or situations) that have harmed human beings. Given enough time, the truth eventually comes out. In my opinion, our society today has no problem creating products and force feeding them on us through the billion-dollar advertisement industry, usually without sufficient testing for product safety to humans and long-term use testing.

It’s going to be a long struggle for sufferers of this condition to have it scientifically proven and officially recognised. There has not yet been the right kind of evidence to please scientists that the symptoms people are describing are really being caused by the radiation from their mobile phones. Blind studies have not yielded any conclusive results leading scientists to suggest that factors other than phone radiation are to blame. But, according to the Wiki page on electrosensitivity, over 2000 doctors in the EU have signed a petition testifying to a connection between phone radiation exposure and the symptoms people have been describing. Given the large number of people reporting the same type of symptoms, it is going to require more thorough examination and better methods of testing before a satisfactory answer as to what really is causing these symptoms can be reached.

I am an adult who has suffered from chronic earaches for the past two-three years. Itching, tinnunitis (ringing) draining, you name it! My GP and two ENT's have provided numerous creams and drops to no avail. They say I have "eczema or psoriasis" in the ear. No explanation for how it could be localized in that area.
My Motorola cell phone gets very hot when I use it and I can FEEL the heat in my ear even from my home cordless (GE). I have stopped using the cell phone and am looking for a cradle type analog phone for my desk. I had even coined the term "cell phone ear" and was just wondering if anyone else had experienced similar problems. Now that I've read what others have to say, I realize this may also be the source of my unexplained headaches and general malaise. I think some rigorous research is needed in this area...

Wow, I too am glad to find this site. Every time I use my cell phone my left cheek (where I usually hold it) gets warm and tingly - almost an ache. It used to happen only after I’d been talking with someone for a while, but now it happens within a minute or so and it lasts a while. Its scarey… I have great plans and activites for the next half of my life - and I don’t want them cut short by greedy companies who may be doing everything they can to keep us from finding out these devices are dangerous! I use it out of necessity or I’d toss the damn thing.
